About the role
We are seeking an Import Staff to join our operations team in Semarang, Central Java. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in managing incoming shipments and ensuring smooth customs clearance and documentation processes. As Import Staff, you will be instrumental in maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of our import operations, directly contributing to the success of PT AWOT Global Logistics Indonesia's service delivery and customer satisfaction objectives.
What you'll be doing
Processing import documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
Liaising with customs authorities, shipping lines, and freight agents to facilitate smooth cargo clearance
Coordinating with warehouse and delivery teams to schedule cargo receipt and handling
Maintaining accurate records of all import transactions and shipment status updates
Preparing and submitting customs declarations and import permits in compliance with regulations
Monitoring shipment progress and providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders
Resolving discrepancies and issues relating to import shipments, documentation, or customs processes
Verifying cargo details, quantities, and conditions upon receipt
Managing and organising import files and ensuring proper archival of documentation
Supporting the import team in ad-hoc duties and contributing to continuous operational improvements
What we're looking for
High school diploma or equivalent; further qualifications in logistics, freight forwarding, or customs operations are advantageous
Proven experience working in freight forwarding, customs clearance, or import/export operations, preferably in Indonesia
Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and international trade documentation
Proficiency in relevant logistics software and systems; experience with customs declaration systems is preferred
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously
Strong communication skills in both Indonesian and English, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry
Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team
Familiarity with Semarang port operations and local customs procedures is a plus
